Can I not wear a suit if I work in an office job and don’t do any meetings or businesses?

Hi,

So I recently bought a dark grey suit, fits me really well, it’s my first suit so I’m super excited, and I spent $530 for it, which isn’t too bad for a first suit, right? Then I spent $600 more for 4 dress shirts, suspenders and shoes. I love it, I love suits in general, I’m obsessed with suits. However, I was told from a colleague that it looks too formal because I don’t do any businesses or have any meetings to attend, I do cyber security. It kinda got me down, as I would love to wear a suit, so what can I do to make the suit less formal? As in, what suit do people who work in the office and have no meetings or businesses wear?

I don’t wear it with a tie anyway, just a dress shirt, jacket and trousers, is it too much for cyber security or what? Also, how can you tell the difference between a formal suit, a business suit and a casual suit? And what suit would you recommend to wear for someone with a job like mine?

And what suits would you recommend to wear for a night out, fine dining with friends or a date? Please share your thoughts :) I’m open to everything. Does mixing up colours automatically make the suit more casual? Does getting rid of a tie make it casual? What makes a suit a casual suit? How do I know what I should wear for the office, an interview, a meeting or a business meeting? I’m new to this and I’m so obsessed, I can’t stop looking at suits :)
